Ekaterina Shelest

Ekaterina Shelest is a bioinformatician specializing in sequence analysis, microbial genomics and things alike. She got her diploma in Biology at Novosibirsk State University and made her PhD in Bioinformatics at Braunschweig Technical University.

Ekaterina started her research career at research institutes in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok and simultaneously taught Biology at a Lyceum and Physical-Mathematical school by NSU. Many of her students became biologists.

Having moved to Germany in 2001, she has worked at research institutes in Germany and England; she also taught various biological disciplines in universities of Goettingen, Jena, and Leipzig. She currently lives in Wuerzburg.
